I've watched GT in the Japanese dub many times and only seen random clips of the English and it is my second favourite part of the series after the original Dragonball. Japanese Dragonball has probably the best soundtrack of any part of the series IMO, and isn't polluted by abominable voice acting like the English dub is. Son Pan is one of my favourite characters in the series but her character was completely ruined in the English dub, which is the real reason everybody despises her. She's perfectly normal in the Japanese dub due to being a 9 year old girl, but the English makes her a 14 year old girl and turns up the bitch-o-meter for no reason. I've only heard a few random clips of the dub and even that was enough to make me want to skin her VA's tongue and drown her in salt water.

It's like watching only the DBZ Anime then reading the Manga for the first time.

It's just most people I've encountered hated it because the voices were annoying, the strength comparisons made no sense whatsoever, and the plot was on crack, which is almost entirely the English dub's fault. But not liking character designs and the plot itself can't be helped no matter which version you watch, I suppose. Haha. Hating GT in English and then not even attempting* to watch it in its native language because you think it'll automatically still suck balls is just fanatical bias.
